About Me pages are overrated, in my opinion. There’s not much to tell about me, other than the fact that I run this website blog, my name is Ananya, I’m 16, and I’m from New Jersey. Oh, and I love to write. I’ve always known that I want to pursue a career involved with writing in the future, but my goals were always all over the place. I had, and still have, interests in too many different types of writing. Recently, however, I’ve taken a greater interest in the journalism field.
This summer, I took a creative writing course at Columbia University in New York City and had the chance to really explore my different options. The one that stuck with me is non-fiction, something I never really felt I had potential in. But you never know until you try, and it turns out that my real passion lies in journalism, historical fiction, and just non-fiction in general. Such a realization led me to the idea of creating a blog, something I now have high hopes for.
I have always wanted to share my opinion with the world, and writing is the best way for me to come across to my audience in the most effective way. More than anything, I feel that words on paper (or on a screen) in this generation is the most influential thing. Most people I know immediately believe something to be 100% true once they see it on paper or on the news, but I aspire to change that mentality. Often, the news, tabloids, and magazines don’t tell the whole truth; they twist the story and spit it out into the public for people to prey on. With this blog, I want to provide people with my take on things like these. I don’t want to feed them more stories that may or may not be true, but I do want them to realize that most things are a matter of opinion, such as this blog.
Another project I currently have going on is my ‘Spotlight Project’. In my life, I have come across one-too-many things that deserve attention but barely receive any, such as people who have impacted or changed the world in more ways than one, or extremely talented individuals who shouldn’t be sitting at home with no feedback. With this project, I hope to bring attention to the many wonderful aspects and people of life that still remain undiscovered.
So that’s me, and if you’re still interested in exploring this blog, I’ll feel honored. If you don’t, I guess that’s just your opinion. Thank you 🙂
